when you eat something, that thing has calories. Your body uses calories throughout it's daily needs. it uses calories for the heart to keep pumping and everything. Let's say you have a hamburger that's 400 calories. Hamburgers are relatively easy to digest so (this is just a guess) it uses around 10 calories to digest. So basically your body is taking in 390 calories from that burger. Now, celery is very low cal. I believe a long stalk has like 5 calories. But, celery is hard for your body to digest so it uses 10 calories to digest it. So really, your body is taking in negative 5 calories
