are you pressing the brake as you try to shift?
car will jerk forward and then go in reverse
does it shift into reverse and wont drive? if so its your tranny it needs to be replaced
pull the lever back to the "H" position. if it doesnt shift put your truck in reverse and pull back about a foot or so then put it back in drive and it should work. if all that fails it is broke. come to a complete stop, then put it in neutral and it should knock right out of low. If that doesnt work try reverse. answer if that doesnt work, unlock the front hubs then put in high, doesnt mean it is broke as first answer suggests
Generally shifting from reverse to drive, while still rolling, is possible but not recommended. This places a lot of stress on the transmission and other components of the drive train.
Park, reverse, neutral, Drive and low
if you car doesnt have the brake sensor then yes if so then all you need to do is disconnect it. However I dont recomend this seeing as a kid could put it in drive or reverse with no trouble at all. This is why it was invented.
Absolutely not.
Not sure of the question, but if your car is less than 7 yrs old, apply the brake first, then you can move the shift selector.
Sounds like a torque converter lock up solenoid.
Shift linkage broken or misadjusted?
Shift it on 2H, then "REVERSE" for about 10 to 15 Feet....
sounds like the auto transmission has a fault
