1stly its not "red eye slider", its "red eared slider". the biting may be his way of saying keep out of my territory. you should separate themin these cases
Well.......... They dont really have much but the Red Eared Slider turtle will bite if you make it mad and the Snapping turtle could bite your finger off! The Alligator Snapping turtle has a 300 pound bite! That is about the only thing!
yes in wild because they have powerful jaws to bite with and they have bacteria on their skin
A lot of them do, yes. So keep your fingers away from its mouth when you are holding it.
personally i recently introduced a 6 month old turtle to the troupe,my larger female of 7 years can be very rough and tried to bite Him/her i would see how they go and keep you have on you larger turtle whilst introducing them,my smaller male of 4 years seems very protective over my smaller one.
You can purchase a good quality turtle food and/or leafy greens. You can allow the greens to float in the water. The turtles will bite off of it.
Often, a turtle will keep its mouth open when it feels it needs to protect itself. Yellow-ear sliders will bite and their mouths are very dirty. Always wash your hands after handling your turtle.
I've got a yellow belly slider, And I've had him for a about 3 months. Hes only a baby, But he has mistaken my finger for food, And tried to bite it, Just don't put your finger near its mouth, And I'm sure if it did bite you, It wouldn't hurt. And I request Yellow belly and Missipi map turtles, As first turtle pets. They're great, Just think about there future though, Due to the fact they can live for a long time. =]
