Many modern vehicles have a feature known as "limp mode." This reduced engine throttling is caused by the vehicle's computer detecting a potentially serious mechanical problem. It reduces power to allow the vehicle to still be driven. ideally to the nearest repair facility or safe location to stop for help. This condition should be checked to avoid possibly further engine and or transaxle damage.
