Could mean a few things, he may know your financial situation and is "looking out for you". Guys are not like Girls in this department. Guys typically want the cooked meal, the body massage, the you letting him do that thing without complaining. Guys are simple in this aspect. Don't buy the gift. He's telling you that he wants you to do the other stuff and for him that's better than the best "wallet" that money can buy.
