Your fish is trying to make a sense of home that he has built, merely by doing the process you explained he is making a sense of security within his territory, trust me I am a fish person, and have the same quire in the past. The best thing to do is clean his bowl out regularly and keep an eye on him, he feels insecure. So just make his home nice and let him get on with it it's natures way
Hope this helped

^ Don't believe what this guy says, Goldfish don't even belong in bowls
Goldfish also eat rocks in their mouth to try to scrap the food off it, then they spit if out.
Normally goldfish are peaceful and calm. But incase your goldfish is doing so then its better to separate the new goldfish.
Get a separate tank for the goldfish (or swordtail either or) these fish are naturally not compatible and putting them together endangers the lives and overall well-being of both fish. If you keep them together much longer the goldfish will probably be wounded by the swordtail, get an infection, and die. Hope this helps
no what sort of question is that just feed it fish flakes it keeps it healthy and happy
Miley Cyrus does in fact have a single goldfish which she keeps in her childhood home.

No. It is not accualy eating the news paper its just teesing its teeth and rabbits enjoy taring paper.
I used to have snails with my goldfish and they got along swimmingly!
Your fish may be used to a sinking pellet, which is actually good for them as it keeps them from swallowing air when eating at the surface (as this can cause swim bladder issues). Try getting a sinking pellet food for your fish instead. Also, goldfish love to forage for food, and will always appear hungry, don't fall for this trick and stick to approx 2 feedings per day giving them as much as they will eat in about 2 to 5 mins.
it keeps insects from eating it and water from damaging it
