That the threat of invasion was removed from Britain. The crossing of thre English Channel was a difficult thing for the Germans to undertake, control of the sea passage was highly unlikely because of the power of the Royal Navy and the lack of Capital ships the Kreigsmarine had at that time. Therefore some, at least limited, air superiority would be required over any given beachead. This was never achieved beause the RAF were able to keep the Luftwaffe at bay. D Day in comparison 4 years later both sea & air superiority for the Allies was virtually 100% ( I think one ship was lost to submarine attack, there was little or no Luftwaffe activity over the beaches.)
Kreigsmarine
no
It's German for War: The Kreigsmarine is the German navy, the fighting ships, not their merchant vessels.
Karl Donitz was leader of the Kreigsmarine during World War 2, and for a brief time, chancellor of Germany (he was named as Hitler's successor but surrendered to the allies 9 days after his death).
Some of Hitler's top lackeys:Heinrich Himmler - Leader of Hitler's Nazi SS.Hermann Goering - Leader of the German Airforce (Luftwaffe)Joseph Goebbels - Minister of Propaganda (he controlled films, radio, and television to a small extent)Martin Bormann - Adolf Hitler's secretaryKarl Donitz - Leader of the German Navy (Kreigsmarine); also assumed control of Germany after Hitler committed suicide for just over a week
Estimates are unknown but very few. Finland had a tiny, primitive navy that they rarely used. However a Large number were destroyed by Finnish mines (Nearly 6400 laid in all).and Naval Sea Planes.Their were very few destroyed by other naval vessals except serveral by Finnish submarines and a number of German ships and Aircraft the Kreigsmarine permitted them to use.
Auschwitz was part of hitlers final solution concerning the Jews and other undesidables. it was Reinhard Heydrich who was appointed to come up with a "final solution" by Hitler. Heydrich chose Poland as the place for the camps. Auschwitz was there. Hitler agreed with the decision. +++ The heading photograph appears to be of one the Nazis' inhumane experiments carried out using concentration-camp inmates; that of testing survivability of humans in icy cold water. Though that was done to help the Kreigsmarine and Luftwaffe, whose serviceman could find themselves in the cold waters of the North Sea, the method was utterly cruel and inhumane.
