oil pump is inside engine and oil filter is on the outside
On the outside or inside? Oil on the electrodes indicates a worn engine. Oil on the outside indicates a leak nearby.
Oil in your engine circulates constantly while the engine is running, and your crankcase also "breathes" outside air. Microscopic particles of metal (from the engine) and dirt (from the outside air) accumulate in your oil. These act as abrasives in the oil if they aren't removed. The oil filter removes them, every time the oil passes through the filter (many times an hour in driving). This greatly prolongs the life of the engine.
needs engine oil ...
Yes, running an engine with out oil will damage it.
You need more oil.
Meaning of Oil on the exterior of engineIF you are talking about "outside" the engine, on the plugs and on the heads around the plugs, then the cause is probably one of two things:Someone spilled oil on the top of the engine [as when adding oil to the crankcase, orThere is a "rocker cover" gasket leak above the area wet with oil.
On a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer , 5.0 liter ( 302 cubic inch ) V8 engine : The engine oil pump is INSIDE the engine oil pan According to my Haynes repair manual in order to remove the oil pan ( to get access to the oil pump ) THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REMOVED * the engine oil pressure sending unit is on the OUTSIDE of the engine beside the engine oil filter
on my 05 mercedes c class. the light says engine oil level reduce oil level. what does this mean?

You probably have a cracked engine block and engine coolant is mixing with engine oil.
It means your engine needs oil and the engine is having a problem (possibly because someone forgot to check the oil)
