The atomic weight (not mass) of a chemical element is the ratio between the average mass of the atoms of this element to 1/12 from the Atomic Mass of carbon-12.

The atomic mass is a term applied only to specific isotopes; the unit is the same as above. Is a value denoting the total mass of all the protons, neutrons, and electrons in an isotope.

The mass number tells us the number (the sum) of protons and neutrons in the nucleus of an atom.

The atomic number, on the other hand, tells us how many protons are in the nucleus of an atom.

IUPAC publish periodically tables of atomic weights - the last edition is from 2009-2010.

For the atomic masses of isotopes the last published edition is The AME 2003 atomic mass evaluation, edited by Audi, Wapstra and Thibault.

The period number of an atom provides information about the number of electrons in its outer or valence shell. The periods on the Periodic Table are arranged from this idea. The atomic number is the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom. It's just that simple.

i think it tells you how many shells there are in the atom (element) and in the shells there are electrons

What does the atomic mass number of an atom tell you about the atom?

The mass number of an atom is equal to the sum of its number of protons and neutrons, simply, nucleons.

The mass number of an atom is equal to the sum of its number of protons and neutrons, simply, nucleons.

What can the atomic mass tell you about an atom?

the mass of an atom of a chemical element expressed in atomic mass units. It is approximately equivalent to the number of protons and neutrons in the atom (the mass number) or to the average number allowing for the relative abundances of different isotopes.

How do you tell figure out the atomic mass?

Atomic mass is the number of protons + the number of neutrons in the nucleus of an atom. On the periodic table, the average atomic mass of an element will the be number at the bottom of each box.

What is the atomic mass of an atom with 5 electrons?

you can't tell the atomic mass of an atom if either the number of protons or neutrons is missing. But Boron with 5 protons and 6 neutrons has and atomic mass of 11.

What does the atomic mass describe?

the mass of an atom of a chemical element expressed in atomic mass units. It is approximately equivalent to the number of protons and neutrons in the atom (the mass number) or to the average number allowing for the relative abundances of different isotopes.

What is relative atomic mass and how it is related with gram?

when atomic mass of an element expressed in gram atom is called gram atom mass . and formula is number of gram atom=given mass (in gram) by atomic mass ( in gram )
