∙ 12y agoIt was designed to prevent the government from suppressing certain rights that had been supressed while under the rule of the English. The First Amendment includes the right of press, free speech, religion, assembly and petetion. Many of these rights such as assembly, free speech and petetion were held especially important because that is how we were able to separate from the England-through the expression of these powers.
