The first ten amendments were adopted in 1791 and called the Bill of Rights. The First Amendment provides freedom of religion, speech, and the press. The second amendment gives you a right to keep and bear arms and weapons for your own safety. The third amendment limits the quartering of soldiers. The fourth amendment gives you the right to privacy and limits search and seizure by the government. The fifth does not allow you to have a punishment without a trial. The sixth amendment states that u have the right to have a fair, and speedy trial when done something bad. The seventh lets you have a lawyer to represent you when in trial. The eighth amendment does not allow unreasonable punishments for example, for stealing a bracelet from someone, you have to pay 5 million dollars or spend 10 years in prison. The ninth amendment states that you have more rights then those listed in the Constitution. The tenth states that all powers not given to the US government are given to the states or the people. :)
