The indicator symbol can vary from one manufacturer to another, so there is no straight forward easy answer to this question.
Some indicators have a round symbol with dashes around it ... some autos the "brake" lamp will start flashing.
Best prevention: check ALL your engine fluid levels at least once a week. Don't wait for an 'idiot light' to indicate something being wrong ... often when these dash lights come on, the problem has worsened and might require major repairs. Fix the little things sooner and they tend to not become larger nightmares.
Your E-brake light will stay on continuously while the car is on, regardless of the acctual e-brake position
It looks like the word BRAKE. It is pronounced as BRAKE also.
If the light is in the center of what looks to be a tire with tread then it is the low tire pressure warning light. If the light is in the center of a symbol that looks like this (o) then that is the brake light warning. It can mean your parking brake is on or there is a problem with the brake system. Check the level of the brake fluid in the master cylinder resivoir.
This warning light means that you need to add brake fluid to your car. Improper fluid levels can cause brake malfunction resulting in an accident.
Do you mean the " BRAKE " light ? - when the brake fluid level is low in the brake master cylinder in the engine compartment , the " BRAKE " light will come on just like it does when the parking brake is engaged
In a 2006 Volkswagen Passat, the transmission fluid symbol warning light is located on the odometer. The yellow light is a representation of the engine with the word check .
an electrical problem like a brake light or something being out
SOUNDS LIKE A WARNING LIGHT TO ALERT YOU THAT YOUR EMERGENCY BRAKE IS STILL ON PERHAPS YOU NEED THECABLE ADJUSTED Check the brake light bulbs to see if any are burned out. On the 1983 it is linked to the brake fluid level.
i think its the brake fluid level sensor just check the level use dot 4 brake fluid.
AnswerIndicator light on dash? Check fluid level in master cylinderMake sure parking brake is fully releasedCheck Brake fluid levelI have a 1996 Tacoma 2.7L and my brake indicator light on the dash is always on. So- here's how to check what's wrong... Start truck, release parking brake, if light is on, push the parking brake handle in/towards dash, if light goes off then you have a bad spring (like my truck does) or the like on the parking brake handle. That's all. Sometimes when I drive, I push it in/light goes off and then the handle works it's way out again and the light comes back on.
It probably means that there is a problem with the electrical connection between the brake ligts and the brake pad and so it does not light when one brakes. Another possibility is that there could be a real serious defect in the braking system e.g. the brake fluid tubes.AnswerIt means a lot of things, but the most common and simplest is that one of the brake light bulbs burned out. Honda puts two in each brake light so you don't get rear-ended on the freeway or pulled over by the cops before you can get to the auto parts store, but check your brake lights by pulling each bulb, inspecting it and cleaning the socket. It could also mean the brake fluid is low. The most common reason for this is that the brake fluid in the reservoir goes down as your brake pads wear our. Warn pads often result in low fluid and a brake warning light. Check your fluid level. If its low don't fill it. First, check your brake pads front and rear to see if they are worn out. If you fill the reservoir and then replace the pads, you will spill fluid out of the reservoir when you push the pistons back in the calipers. The other most common brake light indication is if the emergency (parking) brake is engaged. Check to make sure it is released.I have to disagree with the second answer. Normal brake wear will NOT cause a lower fluid level. The brake indicator on usually always means low fluid in the brake system. Blown light bulbs in the brake circuit will NOT cause a brake light to come on. It is only something directly related to the brake system. Brake Fluid is the monitored component in the brake system. It also will give an ABS light with LOW FLUID,,,,possibly indicating a leak.
You need to ad brake fluid. The sensor senses there is less fluid when it all gets sloshed around (like your gas gauge). That should fix the prob. my 95 neon had the same problem, parking break light and exclamation symbol light. the break fluid sensor is hooked up to these lights, filled up the break fluid and problem went away, but came back a month later.. searched and found a leak in the break lines and fixed it.
I believe that you are talking about a emergency brake symbol. Make sure that the parking brake is completely off. Good luck.
