As much as conspiracy theorists and uninformed paranoids will surely disagree, the peace symbol has absolutely no sinister or anti-Christian meaning. Quite the contrary. It was actually designed in 1958 by artist Gerald Holtom for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament march from Trafalgar Square to the nuclear weapons facility at Aldermaston. Holtom has shared his regret that it symbolizes the despair he felt at the time, but that it literally reads "N" and "D" in semaphor to represent nuclear disarmament. "N" is transmitted by the semaphorist as both flags down as an inverted "V" and "D" as one flag straight up with the other straight down. The two superimposed surrounded by the circle represents the unity of the movement.
The other common peace sign, palm outward, index and second finger raised in a "V" sign was originally adopted by the Allies during WW2 to represent victory. It was later adopted by Vietnam peace activists ("V" for peace in Vietnam). Again no sinister or secondary (delusional) meaning.
