A white rose is generally associated with a sort of innocence and purity and truth. There is a more reverent meaning behind giving a white rose, which is usually described as meaning something along the lines of "You're heavenly" or "You're divine". There is a sort of sincerity and loyalty attached to them also, which seem to give the impression of more of a "true love" relationship.

When used in a bridal context, there is a happiness attached to it, along with the general love meant to be included in a wedding.

There are a number of them. The ones I know of are Rosa Variegata di Bologna- a Bourbon rose, Scentimental- a floribunda rose, and a number of designer roses, such as the Delbard Painter series. Double Delight is more of a cream color than white, and the petals are edged rather than blotched.
