What does the word hast mean in German?

Hast can either be used as a noun meaning haste, or second person conjugation of the verb haben meaning have.

One should keep in mind the German verb "zu hassen", which is "to hate". Conjugation in the second person is "du hasst", and while it is written with an additional "s", it`s pronunciation remains the same. Hence "du hast das Auto" means "you have the car", while "du hasst das Auto" means "you hate the car".
