Uncirculated means that the coin has never been handled and used in commerce. An uncirculated coin may still have some bag marks on it from when it was taken to banks but shouldn't show any wear on the surface of the coin (for example, on the reverse, all the Eagle's breast feathers should be visible and crisp, on a circulated coin those feathers are often quickly worn down). Uncirculated coins for older coins usually trade at a premium over the silver content in them, but keep in mind that some unscrupulous dealers will mark coins that are lightly circulated as uncirculated but if you take them to a reputable grading company such as PGS they will grade them as almost uncirculated.
In coin grading terminology "MS" stands for "mint state" or the state a coin is in when minted and uncirculated. Showing no signs of wear or indication of circulation. MS is interchangeable with "uncirculated". Although MS coins have no wear from circulation they may have varying imperfections from the minting process. To allow for that, the "MS" coins are graded on a scale beginning with 60 and going up to 70 (this is the highest number, which indicates supposed "perfection"). So MS66 would mean a "mint state" or uncirculated coin graded 66 out of a possible 70 on the grading scale. A very nice coin.
Well, I believe what they mean is that it is the 5th VAM designation of your coin's year (VAM designations are die varieties found in Morgan Dollars, some are worth a lot more than others) and the 63 I believe would refer to the coin's grade as Mint-state 63 (coins are graded on a scale from 1 being barely recognizable to 70 being absolute perfection) and PGS is the grading company that graded the coin.
No Kennedy half dollars dated 1982 are silver, those are 50 cents. But if you mean a 1982 George Washington commemorative half dollar, this coin is about $14.00.
3500 grand mean: 3,500 U.S. Dollars
it means 120 dollars
George T. Morgan is famous for designing and engraving the Morgan Silver Dollars (1878-1904 & 1921), which are named after him.
The designation "BU" for any coin means "Bright Uncirculated".
The last Morgan dollars were minted in November 1921. All 1922 silver dollars carry the famous Peace design. Please see the Related Question for details.
AU means almost uncirculated which is a grade for the coin, depending on the grade on the coin and the year of it, the value of the coin can be from $25 for the most common and lowest grade dollars all the way to $575,000 for the second highest grade, most rare silver dollar(1893S)(no proof 70 silver dollar has ever been found)
If you mean a 1882cc Morgan dollar in MS-65 retail price is $400.00 to $500.00
3-24-11>>If you mean, Morgan dollars struck from 1878 to 1899 they all have a silver value of $22.00. The collectible value depends on date, mintmark & condition.
You will have to take the coin to a collector or coin dealer so someone can see it. Just because it is from The American Historic Society does not mean it's a Mint State coin. I have seen many coin sets from this society, so don't be surprised if they are not uncirculated coins.
AU stands for "About Uncirculated" and is not a code it's a grade. If you mean a mintmark? If the coin has one it's on the reverse above the letters DO in DOLLAR.
If you mean a silver dollar. Two different types of silver dollars were issued in 1921 with very different values. This was the last year for Morgan dollars and the first year for Peace dollars. The simplest way to tell the two apart is on the reverse of a Peace dollar the eagle is standing on a rock with its wings folded, the Morgan has the wings spread out. Please post a new question with more information.
If you mean a real silver dollar, such as a Morgan or peace dollar the thickness is 2.4mm
A VAM is a Peace or Morgan Dollar die variety that is identified (by number) in The Comprehensive Catalog & Encyclopedia by Leroy C. Van Allen and A. George Mallis. VAM is the abbreviation of the first initials of Van Allen's and Mallis' last names.
Retail values for mint state coins start $750.00 in MS-60 $900.00 MS-61 $1,530.00 MS-62 $3,470.00 MS-63 $10,810.00 MS-64 $200,000.00+ in MS-65. Because most well struck uncirculated Morgan dollars grade out between MS-63 and MS-65. I would consider submitting it to one of the professional grading services for an accurate evaluation. After reading the question again the above information is WRONG . Just because the coin is dated 1886 with a O mint mark does NOT mean it's uncirculated. I hang my head in shame for this one.
