Talk about what he likes to do, ask him crazy questions (you can do a Google search for crazy questions and they have a WHOLE bunch of interesting and good questions to ask someone). Talk about stuff that is important, like what their goals in life are, and stuff that you would talk about with your friends. If you want to take it to a different level of friendship, as in dating, you should always be friends with the person first, before dating them.
