The biggest Empire in the world was the British Empire, it was the biggest Empire the world has ever seen by far!
It stretched right around the globe and a saying was born "the sun never sets on the British empire" because a part of the empire was always in daylight.

AS a matter of fact the mongolian empire was the biggest ever seen
It was ruled by chinggis khan. And it was 4 times the roman empire at its peak.
However, when chinggis khan died, the empire shrunk a lot. The empire is the size of Europe and china together!
By land area it was the British, Mongol, then the Russian empires.
it grew because they planned well, they were clever, strong army members, Good weapon's, good armour, very quick thinking and so much more... :p :D...
Basically because the Franks had been conquered by the Romans and had become part of the Roman Empire whereas the Germanic Tribes had not. Roman conquest brought peace and security to the land and trade was able to flourish. The Franks readily adapted to Roman culture and system of government which the Latin Christian Church continued after the fall of the Empire. The Germanic tribes however had no centralized government or even one single king.
An empire grows by claiming more land around it. This is generally accomplished by conquering the neighboring countries, city-states, or regions, and making them part of the empire. New land can be acquired peacefully as well through treaties and alliances.
Cyrus the Great was the conqueror of 2,090,000 square miles. This was slightly less than the 2,180,000 square miles conquered by Alexander the Great.
Hadrian's policy over the roman empire was different because he did not continue to add on to it. Rather than add more land to his empire he simply traveled around it.
Iran was established when the Medes empire was formed with the Achaemenid empire. Cyrus the Great joined the two empires and established Persia, which was the biggest empire the world had ever seen. Several empires have risen from Iran and have conquered more land than Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great and Russia.

The advantages of an empire are basically wealth and prosperity for the conqueror and protection for the conquered. The conqueror had access to the natural resources of the conquered territories and these contributed to its the wealth. The conquered enjoyed the protection of the empire such as its armed forces and its laws and sometimes of its culture.
He conquered the Persian Empire from Libya to Central Asia. He conquered it for himself, not for Greece, which he controlled. He was Macedonian, and it was his empire, not Greece, which was a collection of independent city-states, which his father had taken control of, and passed it on the Alexander.
The Byzantine Empire and the Sassanian Empire were so weak that the Islamic Rashidun Caliphate conquered 2/3 of the land of the former and completely conquered the latter.
