The fact that Germany lost WW1 and was occupied by the French and a number of European social, economical and political factors which caused wide spread severe inflation and unemployment. Germany was in political and social uproar, the Social Democrats, Communists and the NSDAP (National Socialist German Workers Party) fighting for power in Parliament while the Military held the system together. Germany was the only system of this kind (with a similar French system) surrounded by Monarchies. It was an era of change for Europe in general and times were extremlely hard for people. Hitler's rise provided people with a sense of patriotism (nationalism) and he offered economical solutions. He also offered a common enemy and scapegoat for the situation (Jews). It was the ideal situation for his Dictatorship.
