Better phrased, the question would be "who first made Gibran Kahlil Gibran interested in literature?" first made...? Then the answer would be Fred Holland Day. Day [1864-1933] was an American photographer and publisher. He was the first in the U.S.A. to advocate that Photography should be considered a fine art. He also had ample financial resources to establish himself as a noted person of charity of those times. Day spent much time among poor immigrant children in the American city of Boston, tutoring them in reading and mentoring them. One in particular, the 13-year old Kahlil Gibran went on to fame as the author of The Prophet. Therefore it is only logical to assume that Fred Holland Day was the first who made Gibran Kahlil Gibran interested in literature.

Khalil Gibran's interest in literature was sparked during his youth in Lebanon, where he was exposed to Arabic poetry and storytelling. Gibran later moved to the United States, where he continued to explore literary works and eventually began writing his own pieces in English. Gibran's multicultural upbringing and exposure to diverse literary traditions influenced his passion for literature.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself what does it means?

This is a reference to The Prophet, by Khalil Gibran: "Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life longing for itself." This means that we do not own our children, and the decision even to have children in the first place is not our choice so much as a biological imperative.

Who said it first ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country I know John F. Kennedy said it but he is not the first.Churchill?

John F. Kennedy VERY famously said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." (It is a shame that anyone living in America would not know that quote, it is the heart of community and therefore democracy.) JFK was quoting Khalil Gibran from "The New Frontier" which Gibran had written thirty six years earlier: "Are you a politician asking what your country can do for you or a zealous one asking what you can do for your country?"

JFK is attributed to saying Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country didn't Kahlil Gibran first say that regarding his homeland Lebanon?

The John F. Kennedy quote is more than attributed. It is documented. He did in fact say "Ask not what your country can do for you" as part of his inaugural address given on 20 January 1961. There have been questions about whether he was influenced by other authors who may have said similar things. This would not be surprising, since speeches often refer back to other sources. We do not whether President Kennedy was a fan of Kahlil Gibran, but Gibran did publish a similar statement in his 1925 work titled "The New Frontier", thirty-six years before President Kennedy's 1961 Inaugural Address. This similarity has been noted by scholars at Princeton University, where some of Gibran's papers reside. Here is the quote: "Are you a politician asking what your country can do for you or a zealous one asking what you can do for your country? If you are the first, then you are a parasite; if the second, then you are an oasis in a desert." Khalil Gibran. http://www.princeton.edu/pr/pwb/07/0618/07a.shtml
