There are several versions of these prehistoric fish that come from Africa, Asia, South America and tropical Australia. All of them grow very large (over 36 inches) and they are aggressive fish. They are hard to find company for because they are predators, hunters and eaters of any fish small enough to fit into its mouth, so my advice would be to keep them only with their own type and in as large a tank as possible. (At least 8 feet x 2 feet x 2 feet for one young 12 inch fish). The Australian member of the family of Arawanas is called a "Saratoga" in Australia and is regarded as a game/sport fish and would simply eat adult Oscars.
