Some pretty good books that you can read are anything by S.E. Hinton. I've read all her books. If you would like to find some of her books in a library or a bookstore near you, ask the Customer Service people to help. These are the names of her books.

The Outsiders.

That Was Then, This Is Now

Tex

Rumblefish

Taming The Star Runner.

Want to know the summaries of them? Here they are!

The Outsiders:

They walked out slowly, silently, smiling.

"Need a haircut, greaser?" The medium-sized blond pulled a knife out of his back pocket and flipped the blade open.

I finally thought of something to say. "No." I was backing up, away from that knife. Of course I backed right into one of them. They had me down in a second. I fought to get loose, and almost did for a second; then they tightened up on me and slugged me a couple of times. So I lay still, swearing at them between gasps. A blade was held against my throat. "How'd you like that haircut to begin just below the chin?"

That Was Then, This Is Now:

I looked across the street, watching some little twelve and thirteen year-old teeny-boppers make fools of themselves-smoking, trying to act cool, pushing each other, screaming and swearing so loud I could hear them. I had a sudden recollection of Mark and me at twelve, smoking our heads off, clowning around, hoping someone-usually some little long-haired chick-would notice us and see how cool we were. All of a sudden it seemed like I was a hundred years old, or thirty at least. I wondered if, when I got to be twenty, I would think how stupid I was at sixteen. When I remembered us, it didn't seem possible that we had looked as silly as these teenyboppers, but I guess we had. At least then we weren't worried about looking silly. We were sure of ourselves, so sure we were the coolest things to hit town. Now I wasn't so sure.

Tex:

"Tex?"

I didn't move. He took hold of my shoulder, easy, to let me know he wasn't fighting any more but I jerked loose.

"Look, I didn't mean to...dammit, Tex, I just want to see if you're hurt." "I ain't hurt." My voice sounded weird, I think it was because I couldn't breathe through my nose. I stayed still, waiting to get my strength back, trying to make some sense out of what happened. I couldn't figure out what had happened.

"Lookit, Tex, it wasn't you - I mean, I didn't aim to take it out on you like that."

I didn't know what he was talking about and I didn't care.

"I'm going to get my horse back," I said "Pop wouldn't let you sell those horses if he were here." "Pop isn't here!" Mason shouted. "Can't you get it through your thick skull that all this happened because Pop isn't here!"

Rumblefish:

"Rusty-James," Steve said. I didn't look up. House sounded like he felt sorry for me and I didn't want to see him feeling sorry for me, because if I did I would hit him, no matter what.

"You're just like a ball in a pinball machine. Getting slammed back and forth; and you never think about anything, about where you're going or how you're going to get there..."

I didn't understand what he was talking about. I did think about where I was going. I wanted to be like the Motorcycle Boy. I wanted to be tough like him, stay calm and laughing when things got dangerous. I wanted to be the toughest street-fighter and most respected hood on our side of the river. I had tried everything...Even though nothing had worked so far, that didn't mean nothing ever would.

Taming The Star Runner:

"Not my uncle, man, I'm scared of the plane. I'm scared to get on the goddamn plane..."

"You ain't scared."

Travis slumped back against the wall and met Joe's eyes for a second. Joe was appalled. Travis Harris, the coolest, the toughest...

"Remember that drag race we had with those guys from Central?" Joe asked

Of course, Travis remembered it clearly. They were in the twins' Trans Am and Travis was driving/ He was the only person they let drive their car. He was doing 110 on the expressway and he took one hand off the wheel to take Kirk's beer and slug it down. his other arm trembling with the effort of driving, and everyone was holding his breath. He hit 115 and nobody was breathing at all, he asked for another and Billy, - maybe Mike - gave him one quickly, afraid he'd turn around and take it. They were flying, skimming the road, the central guys left behind long ago, and nobody, man, nobody thought he'd get the car back down. He just kept asking for more, faster, harder, they couldn't even hear the radio anymore or see the lights rushing by in the night, as if they were all suspended in time, nothing real except the lights on the dashboard where the needle kept climbing...

"Remember that, Trav? You can't be scared."

Travis stared down at his boots. "I was driving."

I STRONGLY suggest you read The Outsiders first. It'll make more since about all of them.

After you read them, watch the movies! Taming The Star Runner is not a movie, though.

I hope you enjoy reading the books and like my answer! Thanks!

Some timeless classics worth reading include "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, "1984" by George Orwell, "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, and "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. These books offer valuable insights into society, human nature, and the complexities of life.

There are many ways to find good books to read. One of the easiest would be to Google 'Ten best books to read' and see what you get. Another way would be to go to goodreads.com and see which books are in a similar style or genre to the ones you already like.

Yes, you should read the books in order. I have read them, and sometimes there are references to past events from other books. If you read them out of order I don't think they would be as good and there would be some things you wouldn't understand.
