It always produces Hydrogen gas(H2) and a salt, effervescence can be observed :

2HCl + Zn ---> ZnCl2(salt) + H2

3H2SO4 + 2Al ---> Al2(SO4)3 + 3H2

The type of salt depends on the acid and the metal.
