Which supply has polarity AC or DC?

DC has polarity, while AC is constantly reversing in polarity.AnswerWhile the previous answer is quite correct in the sense of 'positive' and 'negative' charges, it's worth pointing out that 'polarity' has a second meaning in a.c. systems. In a.c., the term 'polarity' is used to describe the correct connection of the supply's line and neutral terminals. For example, with an Edison screw lamp holder, to remove the risk of shock, it's important that the line conductor is connected to the centre terminal, and the neutral conductor is connected to the outer terminal. If this has been done correctly, then we say that its 'polarity' is correct. Similarly, if the terminals of a socket outlet (receptacle) are connected the correct way around, then their 'polarity' is correct. Testing for the correct connections in an a.c. electrical system is called a 'polarity test'.

I am replacing a old table lamp socket the lamp with a base night light. There are 4 wires 1 back 1 white 2 brown 4 wires total. There are 3 terminals on the socket. Where do the wires go?

If you socket is the same as the one I am trying to replace then you only use 2 wires. 1 black, 1 white (power coming in) and the the night light is attached with the white and the other wire comes from one of the terminals from the socket. The switch is similar to the 3-way switch, 1 for the light in the socket, 1 for the night light..and 1 turns both on. No, mine is different. I have to use four wires. I took mine to the local hardware store where a friend showed me how to rewire it. I then went home and rewired the other one sucessfully. Thanks for the info.

How to wire a plug socket correctly?

To wire a plug socket correctly, first turn off the power to the socket. Then, strip the insulation from the wires and connect the live wire to the brass terminal, the neutral wire to the silver terminal, and the ground wire to the green terminal. Finally, secure the wires in place and screw the socket cover back on.

What wire is hot on the cord going to the lamp socket?

The hot wire's cover is smooth and connected to what I call the "button" at the bottom of the socket. The neutral wire's cover has ridges and is connected to the screw shell of the socket.

How do you change the battery on a 1990 Ford Crown Victoria?

if it has the stock terminals, you need a 1/2" wrench. disconnect the terminals, starting with the negative (black). then, disconnect the red (positive). use a 10mm socket to remove the bracket that holds the battery down, and pull the battery out. put new battery in, put positive terminal on first, then negative, then put on bracket.

The amperage of the circuit increases and the voltage drop across the appliances will tend to increase.

Is plus or Minus Ground on lamp socket?

The term plus or minus is usually a term designated to DC Sources. The terminology for AC systems in laymen terms is neutral and "hot". On a lamp socket, for safety reasons the lamp shell should be connected to the neutral wire and the "hot' wire connected to the bottom centre contact point. In North America this is done automatically by connecting the white wire the silver coloured terminal and the black coloured wire to the brass coloured terminal. If the lamp socket is on a table lamp and it is wired with lamp cable, the neutral is identified by the raised rib on one of the two wires.

Does the heart jump out of its socket when you hiccup?

The heart is not connected to the body through a socket. By process of elimination the answer is NO.

How does one go about changing a car battery?

The first thing you do is turn off the car, and set the parking brake. Now detach the black battery terminal from the battery. Next, repeat the same procedure with the red terminal. Using a rachet and socket, remove the battery hold down clamp. Grab the old battery from the bottom with both hands and lift it out of its tray. Using a wire brush, thoroughly clean the corrosion from the battery terminals with a baking soda and water mixture. Place the new battery in the tray and secure it with the hold down clamp. For best results, spray the battery terminals with a anti corrosion solutions. Now attach the red terminal first, followed by the black terminal, making sure the terminals are tight enough that they cannot move.
