in 1948 the British gave up there power in palestine the UN gave that area to be a Jewish homeland where the Jews could be free off persucution and so they renamed in Israel, (btw:Jacob from the bible changed his name to Israel as well) so basically 1948 is when Israel became a soviern nation

The few who have somehow managed to survive have started businesses,

operated farms, worked at jobs, built towns and villages, raised families, earned

a living, constructed mosques, openly and freely observed Islam, participated in

the political process in Israel, stood for office, and been elected to take seats and

represent their Arab Israeli constituents in the nation's Parliament.

All of this while, mysteriously, in 62 years, not a single Israeli has ever strapped explosives

to himself and blown up a Pizza shop in Ramallah. (Or sent his kids to do it.)

New neighbor on the block; Israel.

That is wrong. Please tell this guy the truth. Palestine was never a country. I had no Government, constitution, money, or at that time people who called themselves "Palestinians" It was part of a country called transjordan (Jordan today) It was a British mandate. It was an area called Palestine to the British. Just like in the united states we call the south the south, your really in the USA. South doesn't have borders its just a word. The British "owned" the land. They divided it up between the Arabs in the area, and the Jewish people. The night the British left. The bordering Arab countries declared war on the new Jewish state. Israel managed to hold them back. They again and again went to war to expel these new neighbors. Each time the area that was in the Arab lands (which became known as palistinians, however they were actually technically people of Jordan but Jordan doesnt really want to take them in.) Became smaller and smaller. They would go to war again to try and take the land back Again these people who lived there (Palestinians) lost more land. Thanks to the Arab countries in the are. These Arab countries told Arabs living in the area to flee so they would not get caught in the fire. Many did. This later created the problem of right to return (Most who left had no documentation, remember they were people of transjordan so anyone from Jordan can say they are Palestinian if they get the right to return, Israel has a better economy so i assume many will try) Anyways the Palestinians lost almost all of what they had. Had the Arabs played nice with the new Jews they would have had ALL the land that was divided to them, the Arab countries around did not want what was given to them but all that tehy could live on before the Jewish state. Many feared the Jewish state would become powerful (it did) and take advantage of neighboring countries (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and such for cheap labor.) There are many Arabs who live in isreals borders (not west bank or Gaza, or gollum) this people expierance a much better quality of life then those in the "palistinian" areas. They own business's and such. They get along very well with the Jews. Most of the suicide bombers have smuggled in from other countries or from the "palistinian" controlled areas Gaza and so on.

So anyways that's the history now for peace. In the year 2000 at camp Davis the peace negotioating was almost done. Israel offered somthing like 96% of everything that was lost during the assualts on israel. They offered all kinds of aid and truly a great deal (almost all israelis were furouis they offered so much) arafat (palistinian group leader. Father of the suicide bombing Ideas, president of the organization that killed the olyimpians) wanted the right to return for palistinians. Israel said first they couldn't proove who was truly from the "israel" are or from the rest of Jordan. Nor could they support as many as (now 4 million since they had kids and kids and kids. Originally i think 200,000 fled maybe alittle more) They didnt want israel to loose its "Jewish" status, If lets say 4 million family members of the immigrants came israel would double in size overnight. either way, israel allowed 100,000 to return with compansation.

All other issues (land, roads, money) were in palistinian favor.

Arafat refused. He did not make a counter offer he just walked away from the talks. This was a HUGE disservice to "his" people. For the next 10 years they lived in small communities. They would fanially have had a "Palistine" for the first time in history. Israel would be cut in half. But they were under alot of pressure from Clinton. It was clear then that an offer of that magnitude would never be offered again. alot of people were furouis with arafat. They said he clearly didnt want peace with the israelis, he wanted them out all together, like some people have been doing since 1948 on the night of israels night of founding. The more the Palestinians push israel out the more they loose. The worst part is its not the people who are doing this, but it is them who suffers. Its a couple of politicians and Islamicist groups, making decision for the people suffering there.

Arafat ordered (like before) a huge group of terror attacks on israel after this talks ended. The peace has never again be so close. For a long time people felt no sympathy for the palistinians after that decision. However 10 years have passed and now people have forgotten and new people are in office who are not really aware of what happened.

Israel in responce does not do much business with there neighbors to show them they didnt need them nor did they intent to take advantage of them.

In 50 years israel has worked towards becoming one of the fastest growing economies and nations in the world they have the 11th strongest military yet they are the size of road island. (usa smallest state)

I hope the palistinians can get some leaders who have the peoples best intrest at heart. Every Israeli I have ever met is so tired of the conflict. I have never met an israeli who has said he hates palistinians. This shows me that there is Hope for peace. The palistinian people deserve to have a country. They need to get a good government. They have been robbed by group after group. The palistinians receive Billions of dollars in donations world wide. Usually all of it is taken by whoever your current government is, it never gets to there people.

I know palistinians have a country comming, I have heard from israelis that the settlements they are building are being made as bargaining chips, that most don't have anyone living in them (israelis) because they don't plan to live there these are areas they expext will one day be palistine.

Palistinians you do have a country comming, just keep a good attitude. Never result to terrorism, Israel does want to have peace with you. I am not israeli however I have studied the subject extensivly.

I have hope that israel/palistine will coexist in the near future. The biggest protesters and haters seem to be the british Muslim population, genrally people who have never been there. When I speak to Palestinian and israelis both they like each other and cannot wait for peace. Its the third party people watching from the outside who are coming with all this BS about torture and murder. It is NOT that violent there. I even had the opportunity to visit. It is NOT what you see on TV.

Last before you condemn the Israeli, you were attacked and the Arabs tried to take there land, thereby loosing there own, and to the people condemning Palestinians understand most of the terror and stuff you see are NOT the Palestinian people but radical islamicst groups
