The mighty kingdom of Isarael started falling apart. After the death of King Solomon, his country (Israel) split into the two kingdoms of Judah (led by Solomon's son, Rehoboam) and Israel (led by Solomon's former general, Jeroboam), as stated in 1 Kings ch.12.
It began in 1 Kings 11:30-34 so God splits it into two kingdoms, so his son Reboboam took over. This son is punished. Its unclear which son took over the house of david. This splits the 12 tribes of Israel. Since Soloman is told he will lose his kingdom only after his death. This made the kingdom of Israel and Judah.
