Sauls time was not so good, but king Davids and king Solomons period were the best in Jewish history.
King Solomon didn't really transform Israel he inherited an immense, powerful and prosperous empire from his father, David. Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These countries brought tribute and were Solomon's subjects all his life. Shortly after Solomon was anointed king, God appeared to him in a dream and invited Solomon to make a request for himself. Solomon asked for "an understanding heart to judge your people..." This request pleased God and God promised Solomon …..riches and honour like no other king in your days. (1 Kings 3:7-13) God intended that the wisdom of His way of life and His laws be made available to other nations. But neither Solomon nor the people he led kept their eyes on that objective. The physical benefits of prosperity, wealth and fame became their chief focus. They lost sight of the reason for their existence as a nation. Under Solomon Israel continued to be a rich and powerful nation. The crowning achievement of Solomon's reign is the building of the Temple which his father, King David, had dreamed about. This is the pinnacle of Jewish history. Everyone is united.
He made a proclamation inviting the Jews to return to Israel (Judea) and rebuild Solomon's Temple under Ezra. This made the Second Temple Era possible.
According to 2 Samuel 20:3 They were kept in a house under guard until the day of their death.
Traditionally, the Shield of David (or Magen David) represented King David's shield, though this is only a legend. It arose as a Jewish symbol in the Middle Ages and today represents the Nation of Jews all over the world. It is the symbol of Judaism religion.
A few Hebrew families fled to Egypt about 1850 BCE. The remainder remained in Palestine. They were a group of tribes known to the Egyptians as 'Habiru'. With perhaps 100 people involved in the flight to Egypt, it is difficult to describe them as the Israelites, of believe the fantasy biblical stories that on their return to Israel after 300 years 100 people had bred up to the nearly 3,000,000 claimed in the bible. These are myths of the Jewish people and need to be taken as such. The Habiru tribes in Palestine were a loose federation. Again the stories of around 1,000 BCE of David and Solomon also need to be taken in this context - they still were a loose group of tribes known to the Egyptians as living in the hills of Judea. Why are there no remains of Solomon's palaces? The beginning of the Israelites as an historical state begins from about 800 BCE.
It prospered.
Saul David and Solomon.
Israel
David was a shepherd and a king who conquered Israel's enemies. While still faithful, Solomon was a wise ruler, and under his kingship Israel enjoyed peace. (1 King 4:25, 29)
Israel was united under a powerful king, David who made Jerusalem his capital.
Ashurbanipal
After King Solomon's death, Israel separated into two Kingdoms - the Northern Kingdom of Israel which consisted primarily of 10 of the 12 tribes of Israel, and the Southern Kingdom of Judah which consisted primarily of tribe of Judah and Benjamin. It should be noted however, that each Kingdom had members of all 12 tribes of Israel.
The kingdom of Israel reached its height of size and power under King Solomon, who reigned from 970 to 931 BC. During his rule, Israel's borders expanded, trade flourished, and the construction of the First Temple in Jerusalem was completed. King Solomon was known for his wealth, wisdom, and diplomacy.
AnswerAccording to the Bible, Solomon had ruled the United Monarchy known as Israel so unwisely and imposed such swingeing taxes that the Israelites hoped for improvement under his son, Rehoboam. When Rehoboam vowed to continue to policies of his father, the Israelites rebelled and broke away to form a northern kingdom, which they called Israel. The much smaller southern kingdom of Rehoboam became known as Judah.According to the noted Israeli archaeologist, there never really was a United Monarchy - the two kingdoms were always separate, with their own customs, culture and separate dialects of the Hebrew language. Nothing important happened after the reign of Solomon, who is probably just a figure of legend.
