The bypass valve will open and the dirty oil will bypass the filter and go throughout the engine. This will never happen if you change your oil every 5,000 miles and also change the filter.
No. The pressure relief valve is part of the pump. The oil filter has a built in bypass valve. It is for if the filter media gets plugged the valve opens and oil still circulates.
No oil filter, no oil, lots of damage.
For an example, Chevrolet has that feature built into the oil filter housing. If the engine demands more oil than the filter can pass, the oil filter is by-passed thru a relief valve designed into the engine.
It does not dissolve in the oil. If the pump happens to pick up the sugar, the filter will stop it. If there is enough sugar, the filter could become restricted and oil glow will suffer. It does not dissolve in the oil. If the pump happens to pick up the sugar, the filter will stop it. The " dirty " oil in the oil filter mixes with the clean oil
Plugged filter, or a failed engine.
about 4" in front of the oil filter. Its usually plugged with a screw or something.
why does oil light come on Oil level is low, pressure is low do to plugged filter or worn engine, or sensor is bad.
The oil pressure sensor is on the oil filter housing just above the oil filter. It is about 1 1/2 inches long and points tword the front of the vehicle. It has a electrical connector plugged into the front of it. You have to take off the oil filter to get to it.
Faulty sensor, low oil level, thin oil, plugged filter, worn bearings, worn pump,...........
possibly on the oil filter unit, look for a wire coming out plugged into it.
Simple answer really is that you have the wrong oil filter. Look for a WIX oil filter (personal recomendation), you can get them at O'reilys. And see what happens.
