Your engine temperature will heat up. I have a 1997 LXi and had the same problem. Someone advised me to replace the cap (size1.1) with a surplus cap (size 1.1 but original). But still my engine temp rises up. Tried to bring the car to expert radiator specialists and said my radiator needs cleaning and overhauling. Since I have a busy sched, I have no time to bring it for a radiator cleaning. I tried to replace the radiator cap with a new one (this time size: 0.9). I observed the temperature stabilize even in long drives. The culprit: The spring from the cap and the rubber under it. Try replacing your cap first if your Honda civic lxi overheats. Try 5times, afterall the cap is not that expensive.
