The ignition tumbler will not turn and you will not be able to start the car.
Not without "hotwiring" it
On the inside of the car on the top lower end of the steering column is the neutral safety switch. It will have 2 purple wires. If you jumper the two and then try to crank it with the key and it starts then the neutral safety switch is defective.
get a circuit tester and start looking with the key on
try checking the alternator try charging the battery with a car battery charger or getting a jump from a friend's car to get it to turn over
Yeah sure, its that thing you stick your key into to start it.
Turn the key off and on for three times and that should prime the system.
My key Bork off in my trunk
This happens all the time in the Jettas. What happens is the cars computer loses the key code for the laser cut key and doesent recognize the key when you try to start it, so it shuts down. You should see a flashing key on the instrument panel when you try to start it, that's letting you know that you are using the wrong key. You will have to take it to the dealer and have the keys reprogramed, which costs around $75 if I remember correctley. Good luck
If the Car didn't start with the key turning the ignition then the car was "hotwired" to turn the Car on.If the key did not start the car, how was it started.
the key will then start the engine and then you would be ready to go from place A to B
try turning key on (don't start) then pump gas to floor 6 times, light should flash then go out (works with many chevy's, but not sure about Impala)
check the battery, and make sure it is in park
