Something you plug into a port/ slot on a computer that tells it there is a network/connection active on the port but, it is just a facade created by the loopback adapter, you see them a lot in IT technicians tool bags
You would use a Loopback Plug, this allow an output signal to be returned as input.
Exact definition of loop-back plugs will depend on what application we are talking about. Mostly these are connector plugs with a metal inside to short two electrical signals. There can be loopback plugs for different applications. These can be for a serial port or an Ethernet port or loopback plugs for specific signals on a connector or on a printed circuit board. These are very useful for debugging and testing an electronics problem. E.g. one can do a loopback on PC serial port's Transmit and Receive (Tx and Rx) lines using a loopback plug or a metal short to see if the serial port is working fine. Similarly Ethernet ports can be tested with a loop-back plug made for the purpose. - Neeraj Sharma

A loose, improperly aligned or worn-out oil filter are common causes of car oil leaks. A loose or improperly threaded drain plug could also cause an oil leak to occur.
Techkid is right--it's a loopback plug also called a loopback adapter. They monitor and test a transmission of electrical or data current (meaning electricity) from it's starting point all the way back to the completion, thus making a circuit. It's part of the Comp-Tia A+ test. (P.S. to the first guy who answered, if you don't know the answer, please don't answer it. No offense, but for a Wiki to be accurate, it has to have the right information.) loop-back plug is correct i think a dianostic card no... the answer is the loop back plug. Diagnostic card is an adapter card designed to discover and report computer errors
air gap improperly set between fly wheel and magneto, bad coil, spark plug harness. Would not hurt to check the spark plug gap and ensure the connector end is tight
A reversal of the hot and neutral wires in a wall outlet may not cause a fire, since there is no electrical connection between them. There is a potential for a fire when a device, equipped with a three prong plug, is inserted into this improperly wired outlet. The use of outlet status plugs with luminous indicators help identify improperly wired outlets.
