Best Answer

Lactic acid diffuses into the bloodstream, and carried to the liver. Here, it's converted back into glucose, but in order to do this, extra energy is required, and as such extra oxygen is needed.

What happens to pyruvic acid after there is no oxygen?

If oxygen is present it is converted to Acetyl-CoA and enters citric acid cycle If oxygen is not present is will become lactic acid and /or ethanol

Lactic Acid :)

What elements are present in lactic acid?

Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen

What is the difference between Lactic acid fermentation and Aerobic equation?

The main difference between lactic acid fermentation and aerobic equation is the presence of oxygen. Lactic acid fermentation does not require oxygen, while in aerobic equation, oxygen is present.

How does the energy system recover?

The lactic acid energy system relies on the breakdown of glycogen to produce energy. As it does not require oxygen to break down glycogen a by-product called lactic acid is formed. If enough lactic acid is accumulated then the body begins to fatigue. To recover, the lactic acid requires oxygen. Once oxgen is present the lactic acid can be converted back to pyruvic acid which can once again be used to produce energy. Therefore to speed up recovery of the lactic system an "active"recovery at a low intencity is recommended. This then employs the use of the aerobic energy system which requires oxygen to be transported to the working muscles, and at the same time removing the fatiguing lactic acid.

What form of cellular energy is lactic acid fermentation reaction part of?

lactic acid is formed by anaerobic respiration when insufficient oxygen is present.

What happens if oxygen is not present?

you will die

What happens when oxygen is present after glycolysis?

fermentation

What is the process preformed by muscle cells when oxygen isn't present?

It is anerobic respiration. Lactic acid fermentation is taken place

What happens to the joints after exercise?

Lactic acid is produced in your body and your legs start to ache, tire and hurt!! Usually you need to oxygen to calm it, as Lactic acid is also known as oxygen debt

What gas is not present when lactic acid is produced from glucose for energy?

If a cell is switching to anaerobic respiration, it's because there is a lack of oxygen.

What happens in respiration reactions if no oxygen is present?

This is when anaerobic respiration takes place. It is respiration without using oxygen. However, when anaerobic respiration takes place, lactic acid is produced and accumulates until the muscles cannot work any more. This is why anaerobic respiration can not happen for very long. After anaerobic respiration, the person usually has to breathe heavily in order to break down the lactic acid and to 'pay back the oxygen debt'.
