Baking powder is baking soda with cream of tartar added to it.
no
Everybody knows that baking soda and vinegar make a reaction similar to a volcano
yes
Yes it aids in the rising. When a recipe contains baking powder and baking soda, the baking powder does most of the leavening. The baking soda is added to neutralize the acids in the recipe plus to add tenderness and some leavening.
Baking powder is a leavening agents, which means it is added to baked goods before cooking to produce carbon dioxide and cause it to 'rise'. Baking powder contains baking soda, but the two substances are used under different conditions.
Flour with no rising agents added for example baking powder
it is cemical reaction
It will still fizz, but fizz less the more water is added to the vinegar (acid) solution. Vinegar is already a diluted solution of acetic acid, and is mostly water.
I bought a box of Great Value baking soda to use in my laundry. When I added water, it bubbled. My Armor and Hammer baking brand did not do that, ever, unless I added vinegar. I am concerned that as they are so different, one may have an additive? Not sure so will not use.
baking soda reacts with vinegar to produce sodium acetate and carbon dioxide
