All kinds of things can happen. The answer may not be what you want to hear. It may not be the truth, because he was afraid to tell "your friend" how he feels. He may or may not tell the truth because he doesn't want to hurt your feelings. He may be shy, he may not really know how he feels about you. He may not even know you exist. If you like the guy, just approach him, introduce yourself and start up a conversation about something you may know he has an interest in. If he SMILES, you will know right away that, at least, he has an interest.
Oh hunny it makes you look weak. It is better for your self to tell him and express yourself. Just be ready for the answer he is going to give you and the expression.
