i just went through my sons 77 280z and replaced the fuel pump and i checked fuel pressure and it ran for a minute and started sputtering and shuts off the pressure dropped to 15 psi and i started and it took off did the same thing so i dropped the fuel tank and drained out the gas and let it dry out and got some gas in a 5 gallon gas jug and stuck the hose and started it ran good with good pressure so i went and ran 130psi out of my tank and puff the dust flew out so i went and put the tank back in after i shot air into it few times and it runs with good pressure so now is the idle it is to high so i hope this helps.
I have a problem. I just bought a used 1995 Kawasaki 220 Bayou. The engine started running a little rough at first. Kept getting worse and then started backfiring through the exhaust. I had the carbeurator rebuilt but still runs rough and backfires. Cranks good and idles good. What could be my problem? Thanks
Well a lot, first be sure the wires are in good shape, replaced the plugs,do a tune up.
The year, make and model info would be helpful but a large vacuum leak could do that.
Backfiring in any motor is either badly out of time or a burnt valve.
Buy a Chevy :)
yes, backfiring is always due to ignition or timing problems. Backfiring through the carb can be a symptom of a lean condition.
Your ignition timing needs to be adjusted.
Either the timing is excessively retarded or you have a worn camshaft or related problem.
Backfiring through the carburetor and no power would seem to be symptoms indicating a problem with your timing. Have the distributor checked.
The dreadful Eyre Peninsula bushfires of 2005 which trapped a town and killed 9 were apparently started by the backfiring or hot exhaust pipe of an old truck belonging to a local prospector. It is also said that this same prospector lost his home in the more recent bushfires which again swept through parts of the Eyre Peninsula.
Simple get the 4 liter engine instead more power and better MPG runs quieter and everything
You will need to refill the tank the pump the fuel through the lines.
