If there is a clunking noise on a 1991 Firebird Formula 5.0 when going below 30 mph, and the clunking noise does not happen when the clutch is depressed, it is probably a problem with the flywheel. The flywheel moves freely when the clutch is depressed. When the clutch is not depressed, it could be that something is rubbing on the flywheel, like the clutch plate.
behind the clutch.....
usually if it clunks on clutch release its the a frame ball joint on the rear axle
Need to know what you want to interchange them with.
No, it sounds like the compressor is failing.
check your ball joints
I've just finished the process I used a Hayes manual. (best thing I ever bought to fix a car) it will take your through step by step on how to do it. There are a few quirks that you need to figure out on your own. on my 97 firebird it took me a while to figure out how to disconnect the hydraulic clutch line. Other than that it was pretty smooth.
Softer than before what? If clutch was serviced possible the slave cylindar was opened and air got in the system.
Yes, they have a brake and accelerator pedal but no clutch pedal
you have air in the lines bleed the slave
clamp the line to the slave cylinder and mash the clutch pedal. if the pedal gets hard to push, the slave is bad. if the clutch pedal goes down slowly with moderate pressure, the master cyl is bad clamp the line going to the slave cylinder. meant to say that in the previous answer
If you notice slipping when starting off or changing gears after the clutch is completely released, if the pedal rises almost to the top before the clutch engages, if you have difficulty changing gears, or if when you press the clutch the clutch does not disengage completely.
A Hen needs to be mated before sitting on a clutch of eggs..
