What if your 97 Kia Sephia has a large exhaust leak but the car runs fine what could it be?

You answered your own question. Exhaust leak! Have the leak repaired as this is dangerous. Carbon monoxide can enter the interior and poison the occupants. It is colorless and orderless.

Really it hardly allows more exhaust throught since it is a dual muffler not a true dual exhaust system. You could block one of the exhaust pippes and your car would still run fine. Most of it was for sellin props like mentioned in the previous answer. to allow more exhaust gas to flow out than a 4 cylinder. and for selling purpose

My 98 sephia is having similar problems. I also have a Check engine light on, so I took it to autozone so they could read it. I was told it was possiby the throttle position sensor and/or the max air flow sensor. Not sure yet, I am looking to both of them right now. Good luck

Exhaust is overheating the starter, starter may be going bad or exhaust could be starting to plug up and getting to hot near manifolds
