The answer to this depends on your age. If you are old enough to support yourself and don't have to rely on your parents, then I'd do what I wanted to do, and as far as your best friends not liking the guy, too bad for them, but if you have to live under your parents roof because you are still in school, you will either have to date the guy anyway and take the punishiment for doing so when your parents find out about it and they will, your so called good friends will tell on you the first chance they get.
