Second guessing can only get a person into trouble. Just because he is ignoring you doesn't mean it's about you. You said you were best friends, so act like it and start communicating. Good friends are there for each other when there are problems. Your friend could be depressed over something, drug related, girlfriend problems or he really likes a girl and isn't having much success getting a date. If you're a girl he could very well like you a lot more than just a friend. Just come out and ask him what's wrong. If he refuses to discuss it with you then tell him you're his friend and would keep in confidence anything he has to say (and mean it) and when he feels like talking you're there. That's all you can do; the rest is up to him.

Often the reason is that he has realised that he likes you.Just go up to him and ask "what's wrong?". And if he starts getting really rough with you he probably likes you too.
