I think there is a process that is using most of the CPU and/or accessing disk a lot. Assuming you are running Windows operating system, to find out if this is what is happening, open task manager (right click in the bottom task bar and select Task Manager or hit Ctrl+alt+del key and select Task Manager). Go to the CPU column in the Processes tab and sort by clicking on the heading. See if a process is taking up most of cpu, usually anything more that 30% is unusual. Now find out what process it is in the Image Name column and search for that in Google. If the program is malicious then run some computer clean up software.
