What if your girlfriend is 18 and you are 16 is that illegal?

Having a girl friend is not against the law. In most states the age of consent is 16. There are states were it is 17. Check your local laws by searching for your state and "age of consent". You could check your states penal codes, most of these are on the internet. The main thing is does her parents approved of you. Like the person before me said, it depends. And you better hope her parents like you. It depends on the state in which you live. That also depends on whether or not you're having sexual relations. That doesn't mean sex. If you grope your sixteen-year-old girlfriend, it's illegal. If you live in Tennessee, they changed the laws recently and it is now illegal. As far as I know, there was a four year period on reaching sixteen. You could be 16 and 20 but not 16 and 21. Now, if one party is a legal adult (18 and older) and one is a minor (under 18) even by a few days, it is technically illegal. If you have consentual sex, it's statutory rape because she is a minor and therefore not able to give informed consent as an adult. Often this whole thing can be avoided by either not having sex, or having your girlfriend's parents really like you. if neither she nor they ever complain, no one knows. If they do, you're screwed. If you were to end up with a girlfriend who was 13 and you had 'consentual' sex, you could be charged with sexual assault of a child and you would go to prison.

I would have to say that I am not an expert in this.

First of all, I think it is not against the law. However, if you decide to participate in sexual intercourse with her, then I believe you must gain a consent from yourself, one of her guardians/parents, and her own self, she is of the legal age.

I am not too sure, but I think that the two of you cannot get married either, except on special consent by both your parents.

I'm not stopping you from dating this girl, but I do think that if you have feelings for her, keep dating until you're both adults, then marry her.

I don't think any of it is against the law, unless you have sexual intercourse with her without anyone's consent, and, especially if you do without her own consent, otherwise, it is okay that you are dating her at the moment.

Of course not. It is not illegal. Just a new concept that most of the people around may not be comfortable with, but it is not illegal. Although, you must be extra conscious, if in such relationships. It essentially depends on the maturity level of the girl.
