What is Barack Obama Sr famous for?

His main claim to fame seems to be that he was the father of Barack Obama II, who went on to become president. Sadly, Barack Sr. had a very troubled life. By all accounts, he was an educated and highly intelligent economist. But he never became successful during his stay in America, which was partly due to racism in society when he was living here, as well as to his tangled relationships, which included marrying one woman before he was divorced from another. (He also had little if any contact with his son Barack after leaving Hawaii and moving to Massachusetts to study at Harvard). Barack Sr. developed a serious drinking problem along the way, and this hampered him when he moved back to Kenya, and contributed to his death at a young age.
