A generic term referring to Socialized Medicine where everyone receives 'free' medical care from the time they are born to the time they die. However: NOTHING is free - SOMEBODY has to pay for it.

Of course socialised medicine is not free; no-one claims that it is. Why would anyone suggest that it is? It's free at the point of use, and it's paid for through income tax. All citizens are eligible for medical care, regardless of income, regardless of age, regardless of employment status. No-one has to worry about whether they can afford health insurance and no-one is refused treatment due to pre-existing conditions. Most countries with socialised medicine also have private healthcare as an option.
