The differences might be slight on the outside, but they are important. The English languages makes very fine distinctions between words, sometime to the point that one needs a dictionary to see the differences.

The Myth is an explanation of a phenomenon that was once a religious tenant. Such myths as Pluto and Persephone and Leda and the Swan sought to explain certain things in the world around the ancients. Pluto and Persephone was the explanation on why there were seasons. It was a tenant of the religion of the Roman Empire, imported from the Greek religious system.

The Epic is a story centered around a small group of Heros. These are classically poems and probably were sung. They were a cross between "current events" and "hero worship". The Odyssey and Beowulf are two examples of this type of literature. They outline a particular hero's travels, exploits, and tragedies. As a popular form of entertainment, the completed versions we have today were probably amended by various writer/bards to include details and were not the original draft.

The superstition is a belief not based on fact. Such minor superstitions revolve around objects like black cats, mirrors, or physical defects of the unfortunate like a clubbed foot. The superstition stems from incomplete information about the item, such as a mirror. It was once thought that the mirror was an image of the soul of the possessor, and if you broke it the owner's soul would become afflicted because it's "picture" had been shattered. Since the mirror was an expensive item to manufacture, only the wealthy could own one and it's loss was a heavy monetary one. Today the mirror is a relatively inexpensive item but the superstition still remains as a remnant of a bygone day.
