When she was quite young she moved into a shed in her parent's garden where she prayed and made embroidered items and raised vegitables to sell. She used the money to help support her family as well as the other poor. She was a very beautiful girl but used lye and pepper to scar her face so that she would be unattractive. Rose is the first saint born in the Americas and founder of social work in Peru.
