The year, make, model and engine info would be helpful.
order on cap is not firing order like us cars. numbers are 3 even 3 odd but they fire 123456 thru inside of cap
The order is 1,2,3,4,5,6 with rotor button turning in a clockwise direction.
Distributes the spark energy from the coil to the spark plugs in the correct firing order.
Assuming you mean distributor cap and rotor, yes, if you mixed up the firing order.
The firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2 rotor turns clockwise.
Firing order is 1-3-4-2 Rotor turns clockwise.
The firing order for all air-cooled volkswagens is 1-4-3-2, when the cap is removed, the notch indicates the #1 rotor position, assuming your distributer is close to the original.
make sure wires are in the right firing order again, cap is on good and secure.
18436572 The #1 cylinder piston must be up on the compression stroke when the rotor button is pointing to #1 plug wire on the distributer cap. The firing order is counter clockwise around the cap.
1-2-3-4-5-6 as simple as it gets.
the firing order 18436572 on the 1988 f150 302
on 68-74 340 engines, the #1 firing order starts at drivers side, front of engine is #1 spark plug. Rotor in distributor cap, must point in that direction and piston in that cylinder should be at top of stroke. Align distributor cap wiring #1 where rotor is pointing to. Then follow firing order clockwise at top of cap. Rear of engine 8-7 6-5 4-3 2-1 Front of engine
