were is the factory theft security system located in a 94 jeep grand Cherokee limited Actually ... if you lock the door manually then to unlock it and not have the alarm go off you need to do 1 of 2 things, manually unlock the hatch or passengers door, or use the keyless entry. The security module is behind the dash just to the left of the glove box. You have to pull off the right side dash, glove box, etc. to get to it. there is two modules behind there, the security module is the one on the left side. vjs The drivers side switch mounted on the back of the lock mechanism wears out after ten years because it is used the most. This is why unlocking the vehical from the passenger side and the hatch works to disable the alarm, they are not worn out yet. you can replace the drivers side switch. vjs You can pull the security module out, the alarm is disabled then, but you also lose your automatic locks, you have to lock and unlock manually. If you pull the module out, you have to do it with the engine running. vjs You can ground the violet wire going to the switch in either door or hatch ground it to the body, this will disable the alarm as well, but if you are going to the trouble, and want the alarm to work, replace the switch. vjs Sounds like you have another problem with your passenger door, not sure i understand your description of your problem. there are a set of relays in and under your glove box, that may affect your problem with your passenger door, these are part of the automatic door locks, these modules are the ones that stop working when you pull the module out. vjs You can pull the module, re-route the connector under the dash then you can plug it in and out without taking the dash apart. vjs COMMENT>>> the above answer is spot on.
