1926 is not a rare date for silver dollars. Values depend on the quality of the coin and where it was minted. As of 01/2009, a coin with no mint mark or an "S" near the word ONE on the back has a retail value of $14 to $17. If it has a "D", the range is $16 to $21. Please see the attached link

it is a common misconception that the 1926 peace dollar is only rare when it has the D mintmark. in above average condition a premium is placed on the 1926 S peace dollar. the 1926 no mintmark dollar has a mintage about half of the 1926 D. In certain conditions it is rare but eventually it should become a highly sought after piece.

1922 Peace dollars are the highest mintage most common of the entire series. Average value for a circulated coin is $15.00. Uncirclated is $22.50.

Additional Answer:The value depends on where it was minted and what kind of condition it's in. In 1922, The silver Peace Dollar was minted in Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco.

Philadelphia: In good condition, it is worth about $19. Uncirculated MS60 will bring in $26 and MS65 Brilliant Uncirculated condition will bring in about $182

Denver: In good condition, it is worth about $17. Uncirculated MS60 will bring in $32 and MS65 Brilliant Uncirculated condition will bring in about $430

San Francisco: In good condition, it is worth about $17. Uncirculated MS60 will bring in $32 and MS65 Brilliant Uncirculated condition will bring in about $2,300!

Also note, there is a "High Relief" variety during this year that came out of Philadelphia. If you happen to come across one, it would easily be worth over $76,000, making it one of the most valuable Peace Dollars in existence.

No U.S. half dollars were struck in 1924. Kennedy halves started in 1964. JFK was born in 1917 so he would have only been 7 years old in 1924!
