The Catholic church, by far. Catholicism is the original Christian church. The apostle St. Peter being the first Pope when Jesus said to Peter, "You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church". Peter was in charge of the church following the ascension, and when he was martyred, his successor St. Linus became the Pope, and so on all the way to the present, Pope Benedict XVI.

To put it this way, the Catholic church has been around for about 2,000 years. We can trace our founding all the way back to Jesus himself.

Roman Catholic AnswerCatholicism was founded by God, and the Church was born from the side of Christ when it was pierced by a sword while He hung dead on the cross. The Anabaptists, a sect which rejected their baptism, was founded in the 17th century, so roughly 1,700 years after the Catholic Church was formed by Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

As a Christian who is neither Baptist nor Catholic, I find this sort of question infantile and quite offensive.

Baptists and Catholics are both Christians and are children of God. As Paul stated in Galatians 3:28: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Add to this list 'Catholic' and 'Baptist'. To say which is 'better' is meaningless as we are all one in Jesus Christ.

Roman Catholic AnswerYou have to be careful here, obviously one person (a Baptist or a Catholic) is not necessarily a better person because they belong to their own religions and each will judge his own religion the "best". If you are asking which religion best reflects Jesus and His teaching, then the fact that the Catholic religion was founded by God, and that the Baptist was founded by dissenters fifteen centuries later may have some bearing on your decision. The view that one "truth" is as good as another is called relativism and has been repeatedly condemned. There is only one truth, and that is God, and His Church.

Every religious person believes that he or she is fortunate enough to believe in the best and most accurate of all religions. Every Catholic believes that Catholicism is superior to the Baptist church, and every Baptist believes that the Baptist church is superior to Catholicism. And of course, Muslims believe that Islam is superior to Christianity, and so forth. If I were to give you my own opinion as to the best religion, it would serve only to tell you which religion I personally believe. While there may exist such a thing as an objective criterion for assessing the relative value of one religion as compared to another, I fear that you will receive no truly objective answers about religion on this site. So, it's up to you to form your own opinion.

.

Catholic AnswerAs noted above, it sort of depends on what criteria you are using to define a "better religion." I suppose that Catholics would deem Catholicism the only religion as it is the only religion founded by Our Blessed Lord, Himself: who is the only name in heaven or earth by which man can be saved. It is the only religion that exists since the time of Our Blessed Lord, and the only one that God guaranteed would be here at the end. As the Baptist religion wasn't even thought of until it was invented seventeen centuries afterward, and it is based on a version of the Catholic Bible with half a dozen books removed, you could say that it is a much later off-shoot from Catholicism.

Do Baptists dislike Catholics?

No. Baptists are not part of the Roman Catholic Denomination. Baptists are people who are part of a number of different denominations that sprang out of the Protestant Reformation of the 16th and 17th centuries. However, the term "catholic" means "universal." Baptists do consider themselves to be part of the universal church. That is, it is part of the church ("Body of Christ") established by Jesus and baptized in the Holy Spirit. That is why Baptists are able to concur with the Nicene Creed when it says "We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church."
