A clutch wrench is a mechanical tool used to hold a clutch in place during installation. This holds the clutch still and does not allow it to move.
try a wrench
Use a fan clutch wrench, hit it with a hammer(top right side of wrench) counter clock wise, or open end wrench, same process, or use a air hammer on fan clutch nut(hitting it counter-clock-wise) Use a fan clutch wrench, hit it with a hammer(top right side of wrench) counter clock wise, or open end wrench, same process, or use a air hammer on fan clutch nut(hitting it counter-clock-wise)
Yes it takes a 36mm wrench and a holder for the pulley to remove the fan clutch,
With a boxed end wrench or socket, never with an open end wrench.
I used a 12 inch crescent wrench and a 13mm wrench on the water pump pulley bolts. if it wont budge, tap the fan clutch nut with a hammer, sometimes they are hard to get off
It requires a 36mm wrench and a spanner/holding device. The fan clutch unscrews counter clockwise.
You can get a wrench set from Autozone...$60 to loan, refundable when you return it. Take a large adjustable wrench and place it on the hex nut of the fan clutch. Tap or hit it with a hammer, it's right threaded so tap it to the left. The wrench set will slip over the bolts on the pulley to hold it in place while you continue to remove the fan clutch.
An 1 1/2" open end wrench will fit a little loose but works fine.
I'm assuming the problem is getting the fan clutch off as the fan is attached to the fan clutch. Heres how I got mine off: You need a strap wrench a large hammer and a large crescent wrench and two people. One to hold the water pump pulley still with the strap wrench and one to turn the large fan clutch nut with the crescent wrench. You may need to smash the crescent wrench with the hammer to break it lose. Some kind of rust loosener stuff helps too.
12mm wrench on the four bolts behind it
7/16 or 11mm
It depends on the vehicle, some are clockwise thread others counter clockwise. Either way it takes the correct wrench and a holding tool.
